The next day, the tribal leaders held an open meeting to discuss whom should raise the child that was saved. After all, he must be a special boy since he was spared from death. A rich man came forward and stated that he should raise the boy since he could take care of every material need he might have. A doctor stood up and said that he should raise the boy. After all, he was a very respected man in the village. Finally, another came forward and explained that if anyone should raise the boy, it should be him. He held out his arms to show the burns and injuries that he acquired while rescuing the child from certain death. You see, no one else paid a price for this child the way that this man did.

Jesus has done the same thing for us by giving His life up on the cross, only to return and hold His arms out and say, "You belong to Me, I paid the price for your life." How can we turn away from such compassion only to wallow in the sludge of our worldly ways? Jesus is returning soon and we need to be ready. Matthew 25:6 says, "At midnight the cry rang out: 'Here's the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!"
