About
Dr. Alan Jay Thorner

President & Board Member

Prophet | Teacher

Alan Jay Thorner was born and raised in a Jewish family. He went to medical school in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1974 and transferred out to complete his last two years at Temple University in Philadelphia. Alan, in 1978 while at Temple U, received Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was filled with the Holy Spirit simultaneously. Alan was going to leave medical school and go to bible school, but the Lord sovereignly stopped him and told him He would use medicine as a tool to open up doors for the ministry of the Gospel. Alan stayed in medical school and did his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Nassau County Medical Center in NY from 1979-1984.

He began practicing emergency medicine part-time in 1981 but decided to go full-time and make it his specialty in 1984 so he could focus more on ministry. During his residency, Alan met another Jewish Christian doctor, Bob Canter, and together they started a church in East Meadow, New York originally called the Open Hand of God but now called Christ Alive Church. Alan served in that church in various roles, including elder, teacher, youth pastor, and worship leader from 1981-1997. During this time, Alan began to move in the prophetic ministry.

“Alan began his mission work in 1993 by going to Romania and Ukraine as well as Austria and Hungry. The Lord used medicine to open up doors just as He promised. He continues to use medicine to open up doors to this day.”

During this time, Alan served two terms as a Trustee for the KMA and also served a term on the medical executive committee, including president of the medical staff. Alan also served as a board member and Chairman of the board at Madisonville Community College for 17 years until he retired from service at the end of 2021.

Alan and his family joined Victory Church in 1998 where he became a teacher and then an elder. It is here where Alan met Ben Holloway.
